WHAT ARE SENSORY FRIENDLY DAYS ABOUT?These are selected tours separated from public so that we can provide an environment conducive to those with sensory needs. If you have kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, or other sensory and stimulus sensitivities, we encourage you to consider signing up for tours on these days/times.

What kinds of accommodations are available on Sensory Friendly Days?

First, we are limiting enrollment to make sure our groups are not too loud and busy. Additional accommodations include:

flexible pacing to ensure we are moving on to new activities when the kids are ready
low stimulus relaxation areas to escape to
sensory tool backpacks (designed by Sensory Tool House, LLC) with noise canceling headphones, fidget toys, cleaning wipes, and other supplies are available for checkout
walking sticks for stability on walking trails
Volunteers onsite to assist with activities and help ensure safety
If I have kids on the spectrum, do I have to bring them on a Sensory Friendly Day?
No! You are welcome to come on ANY of our public tour days. The Sensory Friendly days are ones that we know will have limited group sizes and we will intentionally have accommodations available. If you are looking for alternative days and times, Sunday afternoons and Monday-Thursday (in the summer) tend to be less busy, but public foot traffic can be somewhat unpredictable.

Do I have to pay in advance?
Yes. Prior purchase of tickets is our mechanism to help ensure we limit enrollment. However, if someone gets sick, you have an emergency come up, or your morning plans for getting out just don’t shape up, contact us and we will issue a full refund.
